Using some of the 19.7 kWh we produce each day, enough for 3400 miles per month even without time-of-use leveraging
GM spent $1B, Tesla only cost $.040B
GM claims the EV1 cost them "$1B" to produce.

But TeslaMotors.com brought out its 4.0 second, 0-60, 250 mile range electric sports car for less than $40M.

And they are sold out.

GM was so wasteful of money that it refused to sell even the last 78 EV1 to recoup $2M of its "investment".

What they were really doing was killing the Electric car, they and their oillie pals don't want people doing just what this picture shows: using some of our excess solar production to power our plug-in cars. These plug-in small SUV go 4 miles on each kWh, the EV1 went up to 6 miles per kWh.

We produced 19.7 kWh on Mar. 2, a typical WINTER day.

We get "time of use" leveraging if we charge off-peak, but even without it, we can drive up to 80 miles on this appx. 20 kWh of excess power. Or, up to 3200 miles per month, enough for TWO RAV4-EV.

No wonder GM wanted to cover-up their shameful destruction of the EV1: if more people could charge up from their solar Electric system, they would not need to go to repair shops, smog checks, gas stations, or for oil changes. The money and pollution that GM and Chevron thrive on would just not be produced for them, instead, more people would live "oil-free" for most of their driving.
